DESCRIPTION: Height up to 90cm. The leaves of this common plant are ovate and are borne in 3 to 9 pairs with a bristle point at the tip. The inflorescence contains 2 to 6 short stalked flowers that are deep pink to purple in colour. The fruit pods are black and hairless. DISTRIBUTION: Widespread and common. HABITAT: Hedgrerows and the edges of woodland are the preferred places that this plant grows. FLOWERING TIME: May to October.
